Ru Shann is a lifelong, diehard Detroiter with a strong love and commitment to her family. Her desire to improve the quality of life for residents while bringing about positive change and revitalizing her community is a driving force in her life. Compassionate and people-oriented, Ru Shann dedicated over 35 years as a public servant for the State of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Throughout her career, she was motivated by a strong desire to help others. A passion she continues to pursue even in retirement. By connecting her passion with serving those in need within the community, Ru Shann continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Known for her ability to connect people to vital resources and her advocacy for the rights of Detroit’s citizens and people everywhere, Ru Shann is a pillar of support for her community, one of her notable achievements includes playing a key role, alongside others, in the planning stages of the Joe Louis Greenway, a project that will benefit the community for generations to come. As a wife, mother, and grandmother Ru Shann embodies the values of compassion, dedication, and service. Her unwavering commitment to equality of services and the needs of the public showcases her dedication to making a positive difference in the world around her.
