Jermaine R. Ruffin is an experienced professional in the fields of Urban Planning, Community and Economic Development, Community Engagement and Urban Redevelopment. Jermaine has 15+ years working with both public and private entities to develop innovative housing, community engagement, commercial investment + economic development solutions. Jermaine has successfully led projects and teams that have secured over $500M in housing & commercial investment.

Jermaine holds expertise in project management, commercial corridor revitalization, equitable development, public speaking and consulting. His work as a practitioner informed his role at The University of Michigan as a Lecturer teaching the “Change-making in Cities” course. Jermaine is also the accomplished Host of The Streets are Planning podcast which featured nationally recognized community & economic development practitioners and projects.

Jermaine has been a featured speaker, presenter and panelist at urban planning + community & economic development conferences in Chicago, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Atlanta, Washington D.C, Vancouver and Detroit.
